A computerized Data Bank was established to provide a comprehensive source of statistical information and to coordinate the flow of information in the agriculture sector. It is specially designed to provide ready information to government officials, policy makers, researchers and businessmen in the agriculture sector. The Data Bank comprises of two components, namely Development Indicators and Survey Archives. (i) Development Indicators Secondary statistics collected from government agencies form the Development Indicators. At present the collection consists of relevant data concerning all factors relating to agricultural development. (ii) Survey Archives These include primary data generated in field surveys that have been conducted by the Institute. Consultancy, user and supplier education, training in computer use and an awareness service are provided to assist in the retrieval and processing of information from the Data Bank.
